Scholarships
Old Dominion University has established a Governor's Technology Scholarship Program for
students interested in pursuing careers in computer science, computer engineering,
electrical engineering, information systems, electrical engineering technology, and
computer engineering technology.
The University will award both four-year and one-year scholarships to first-year
students. Forty-five four-year scholarships valued at $16,000 ($4,000 per year) and
70 one-year scholarships, also valued at $4,000, will be awarded. The University
also will award transfer students 10 two-year scholarships valued at $8,000 ($4,000 per
year).
WHO QUALIFIES?
Students who intend to major in the following disciplines:
- Computer Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Computer Science
- Computer Engineering Technology
- Electrical Engineering Technology
- Information Systems

REQUIREMENTS:
First time students must have a minimum high school grade point average of 3.0 and a
minimum SAT score of 1100, with a math sub-score of at least 590.
First time students must have completed four years high school math (including mathematics
analysis or pre-calculus) high school chemistry, and high school physics with a minimum
grade of C in each.
Transfer students must have completed a transferable associate's degree with a minimum of
3.25 grade point average.
(Transfer students can substitute course credit in lieu of the high school requirements.)
CRITERIA TO STAY IN THE PROGRAM:
- Maintain 2.5 grade point average
- Maintain status as a full-time student (12 hours)
- Progress toward a degree completion as verified by the undergraduate advisor in the
student's major
- Maintain status in one of the six majors listed

A student can receive a waiver of credit enrollment requirement if participating in the
Career Advantage Program or approved International Exchange, Fellowship, etc.
Students accepting four-year and two-year awards must agree to work two years in the
Commonwealth of Virginia upon graduation, provided suitable employment opportunities are
available.
